(코리아타운뉴스) Young Kim to Run for Orange County Supervisor

O.C.’s 4th District has Asian population of 17 percent

Former assemblywoman Young Kim will run for Orange County Supervisor(4th District) in 2018.

Kim, a Fullerton resident, announced via email to reporters that she plans to host a fundraiser for her campaign on March 31 at 6 p.m. inside of Buena Park’s Los Coyotes Country Club.

“Current Supervisor Shawn Nelson’s term ends next year,” Kim said. “I’ve decided to run for Orange County Supervisor(4th District). There’s no need for an election in November if I garner more than 50 percent of the votes in June, so I am making the announcement as early as I can.”

Kim has already received endorsements from the likes of Rep. Ed Royce and OC Supervisor Chairwoman Michelle Steel, both of whom will attend the event next month.

Kim also received endorsements from prominent local elected officials such as Rep. Mimi Walters, Board of Equalization Vice Chairwoman Diane Harkey, Asm. Philllip Chen, Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, OC Supervisor Vice Chairman Andrew Do, and a host of other state, county and city elected officials.

Orange County’s 4th District covers parts of Anaheim and Buena Park, as well as Fullerton, Brea, La Habra and Placentia. Asian-Americans take up approximately 17 percent of the district’s population.
