(짐이 직장에서 라저와 이야기를 한다.)

Jim: I have to take off work early today.

짐: 오늘은 일찍 퇴근해야겠어.

Roger: Why?

라저: 왜?

Jim: I'm having some furniture delivered to my house.

짐: 집으로 가구를 좀 배달시켰거든.

Roger: You bought new furniture?

라저: 가구 새로 샀어?

Jim: A dining room table and four chairs.

짐: 식탁하고 의자 4개 샀어.

Roger: What's wrong with the table and chairs you have now?

라저: 지금 쓰는 식탁과 의자는 뭐가 잘못됐어?

Jim: They're old. They don't go with anything else in my new house.

짐: 오래 됐어. 새 집이라 다른 거하고 안 어울려.

Roger: So you're turning into an interior decorator.

라저: 너 실내 장식가로 변신하는 거 같다.

Jim: Do you want to have my table and chairs. I'll give them to you.

짐: 내가 쓰던 식탁하고 의자 가질래. 내가 줄게.

Roger: I have to think it over. I'll tell you later today.

라저: 생각 좀 해보고. 이따가 얘기할게.

기억할만한 표현

*take off: (특정한 장소를) 떠나다.

“I have to take off at 2:00. I have a doctor’s appointment.” (2시에 가야 해. 병원 예약이 있거든.)

*(Something or It) doesn’t go with (something): (컬러나 디자인이) 어울리지 않다.

“Your tie doesn’t go with your suit. They don’t look good together.” (너, 넥타이가 양복과 안 어울려. 같이 입으니까 안 예뻐 보여.)

*turn into (something): (1)사람이나 (2)사물이 변하다.

(1) “She’s turning into a beautiful woman.” (그녀는 참 예뻐졌어.)

(2) “It rained this morning, but it’s turning into a nice day.” (아침에 비가 오더니 날씨가 화창해지네.)
