로우이스: 루이스 삼촌 상태가 어떤지 가봐야지.

Kasey: Is he sick?

케이시: 삼촌 아프셔요?

Lois: He was laid up with a cold all last week.

로우이스: 지난 주 내내 감기로 누워계셔.

Kasey: How old is Uncle Louis?

Lois: I forget but he's getting on.

Kasey: Give him my love and tell him I hope he feels better soon.

Lois: I will.

기억할만한 표현

*(one) is laid up with (something): (무엇 때문에) 아프다, 누워있다.

“He’s laid up with a broken leg he got in a soccer game.”
(그 사람은 축구 경기를 하다 다리 골절상을 입고 누워있어요.)

*(one) is getting on: 나이를 먹다 (getting on in years라는 표현도 씀.)

“My grandfather is getting on.”
(우리 할아버지는 연세가 드시나 봐.)

*give (one) your love: (누구에게) 사랑한다고 전해주세요.
