[오늘의 생활영어] it's out of (one's) hands ; ~의 관할 밖이다
Julie: So, are there any openings at your school?
Roger: There was last week.
Julie: Oh, why didn't you tell me?
Roger: I didn't know you were looking for work.
Julie: It was a teaching job?
Roger: Yes. I couldn't have helped you anyway.
Julie: Why is that?
Roger: The boss wanted to hire his niece to teach. It was out of my hands.
Julie: Keep an eye out for me if there's another job opening.
Roger: I will. I'll call you if a job opening comes up.
