(Joel and Claude are having a drink in a bar … )

Claude: I'm thinking of buying a cabin up in Lake Tahoe.

Joel: Really?

Claude: Yes.

Joel: Real estate is expensive up there, isn't it?

Claude: Yes, but in the long run I'll be better off.

Joel: What do you mean?

Claude: If I rent it I'll wind up with nothing.

Joel: That's true.

Claude: If I buy it it will be a good investment.

Joel: You're beginning to make sense.

* in the long run:

"In the long run you'll be happier if you take this class."

* be better off: 더 낳은 상황이다

"You're better off going to that restaurant for pizza. It's more delicious there."

* wind up with nothing:

"If you don't save some money you'll wind up with nothing."
