[오늘의 생활영어] to give up (something); 포기하다

(Alice is talking to her husband Charlie … )

Alice: So what did the doctor say?

Charlie: He said I have to give up a lot of things.

Alice: Like what?

Charlie: I have to give up red meat salt and sweets.

Alice: Did he say anything about exercise?

Charlie: Yes. I have to put in at least one hour of exercise three times a week.

Alice: Can you do it?

Charlie: I have no choice.

Alice: I'll help you. We'll work out together.

Charlie: Thanks. That would help.

Alice: Do you want to start tomorrow?

Charlie: No, let's start today.

Alice: Okay. That's a good idea.
