(Dillon and his friend Alicia are talking…)

Alicia: I'm thinking about buying a gun.

Dillon: A gun? Why do you need a gun?

Alicia: For protection! I'm not going to suddenly turn into a hunter.

Dillon: Why do you need protection?

Alicia: I don't want to put up with being frightened all the time.

Dillon: You've never mentioned this fear before.

Alicia: I've been watching local news lately and it seems like a lot of people are being shot to death.

Dillon: Settle down Alicia. I think you need to give this more thought.

Alicia: I'm tired of thinking about it.

Dillon: Suit yourself. It's your life.

*put up with (someone or something):

"I'm tired of putting up with the stupidity of our politicians."

"Would you kids settle down for a minute?"
