[오늘의 생활영어] be in and out (all day) ; (하루 종일) 들락날락하다

Larry is calling his friend Nick at his office. (래리가 친구 닉의 사무실로 전화를 건다.)

Secretary: Good morning Nick Anderson's office.

비서: 안녕하세요. 닉 앤더슨 사무실입니다.

Larry: Good morning. Is Nick in the office?



래리: 안녕하세요. 닉 사무실에 있나요?

Secretary: I'm sorry. He's out of the office at the moment.

비서: 죄송합니다. 지금은 자리를 비우셨습니다.

Larry: Do you know when he'll be back?래리: 언제 돌아올까요?

Secretary: He said he would be in and out all day.

비서: 오늘은 하루 종일 계속 왔다 갔다 하실 거라고 그러셨어요.

Larry: I really need to talk with him soon.

래리: 급히 통화를 좀 했으면 하는데요.

Secretary: Would you like to leave a message?

비서: 메시지를 남기시겠어요?

Larry: Yes. Tell him that Larry has tickets for the baseball game tonight if he's up for it.

래리: 예. 오늘밤 야구경기에 가고 싶으면 래리가 티켓을 갖고 있다고 전해주세요.

Secretary: I'll give him your message.

비서: 그렇게 전해드리겠습니다.

Larry: Ask him to call me when he gets a chance.

래리: 기회가 되면 저한테 전화해 달라고 전해주세요.

기억할만한 표현

*at the moment: 지금은.

“At the moment I feel like staying home tonight.” (지금 기분으로는 오늘밤에는 집에 있을래.)

*be up for (something): 좋아하다. ~을 하고 싶다.

“I’m not up for another day at work.”

(하루 더 일하고 싶지 않아.)

*get a chance: 기회가 있으면.

“If you get a chance give Helen my telephone number.”

(기회가 되면 헬렌에게 내 전화번호 좀 알려줘.)
