Pet Store Owner: May I help you?

애완동물 가게 주인: 어서 오세요.

Carla: Yes. I'm in the market for a dog.

칼러: 예. 개를 한 마리 사고 싶은데요.

Owner: What kind of dog are you interested in?

주인: 어떤 종으로 생각하고 계세요?

Carla: I don't really know what kind but it must be small.

칼러: 종은 전혀 모르겠지만 작아야 되요.

Owner: Oh are you afraid of big dogs?

주인: 아 덩치가 큰 개는 무서우세요?

Carla: Not at all. I live in an apartment.

칼러: 그런 건 전혀 아니고요. 제가 아파트에 살아서요.

Owner: I'm afraid all the dogs I have will be large.

주인: 죄송하지만 제게 있는 개는 모두 덩치가 큰 것 같네요.

Carla: That's too bad. I was hoping to get a pet.

칼러: 안됐네요. 애완동물이 하나 있었으면 했는데.

Owner: How about a cat?

주인: 고양이는 어떠세요?

Carla: No! I love animals but I draw the line at owning cats.

칼러: 싫어요! 동물을 좋아하지만 고양이 키우는 건 아니에요.

기억할만한 표현

*not at all:전혀~아니다.

“I‘m afraid your plane will be delayed for an hour.

(죄송하지만 비행기가 1시간연착될 것 같습니다.)

*draw the line: 선을 긋다. 구분하다. 행동에 한계를 두다.

”I don’t mind you being late occasionally, but I draw the line at you being late
every day.
