Stan: Hi neighbor how are you doing?

스탠: 안녕하세요 이웃사촌. 잘 지내죠?

Alan: Hi Stan. I thought you were on the road.

앨런: 안녕하세요 스탠. 여행 간 줄 알았어요.

Stan: I have been for two weeks.

스탠: 2주 동안 여행 갔다 왔어요.

Alan: How was your trip?

앨런: 여행은 어땠어요?

Stan: The business part sucks lately so I wasn't as productive as usual.

스탠: 최근엔 비즈니스가 형편없어요. 다른 때보다 성과가 없었어요.

Alan: That seems to be happening every

where. So what are you doing here?

앨런: 요즘은 어디나 그런 거 같아요. 그래 무슨 일로 오셨죠?

Stan: Actually I want to ask you a favor.

스탠: 실은 부탁할 게 있어서요.

Alan: Sure. What would you like me to do for you?

앨런: 그러세요. 제가 무얼 하면 될까요?

Stan: I'm taking the family to the lake and I was hoping you would watch the dogs for me.

스탠: 가족과 함께 호수에 가는데 저 대신 개들을 좀 봐줬으면 해서요.

Alan: Of course. Don't worry about it. I know the drill.

앨런: 그러세요. 걱정하지 마세요. 어떻게 해야 되는지 알아요.

기억할만한 표현

*on the road: 차로(장거리를) 여행하다.

“We were back on the road before dawn.”(우린 동이트기 전에 여행에서 돌아왔다.)

*(something) sucks: (격식을 차리지 않은표현) 형편없어. 밥맛이야.

“Not having a job sucks.” (직업이 없으니까 더럽네.)

*ask (someone) a favor: (누구에게) 부탁하다.

“I hope he doesn’t ask me for another favor.”

(그 사람이 또 부탁을 해오지 않았으면 좋겠어.)
