Lizabeth: Hi Jason. I‘m glad I ran into you.
리자베스: 제이슨 선생님. 이렇게 마주치니 잘 됐네요.
Jason: Hi Liz. Why are you glad to run into me?
제이슨: 리즈 선생님 절 만난 걸 왜 이렇게 반가워하죠?
Lizabeth: Do you know David Cho?
리자베스: 데이빗 조라는 학생 알죠?
Jason: Sure. He’s a student of mine.
제이슨: 우리 반 학생이죠.
Lizabeth: He hasn‘t been in class for several days and it’s not like him to cut class.
리자베스: 며칠째 수업에 안 들어와요. 수업 빼먹을 아이가 아닌데 말이에요.
Jason: Oh he had to take this term off.
제이슨: 아 데이빗은 이번 학기 쉬어요.
Lizabeth: Really? Do you know why?
리자베스: 정말요? 왜 그런지 아나요?
Jason: He had to get a job.
제이슨: 일을 해야 된데요.
Lizabeth: I heard his father passed away last summer.
리자베스: 지난 여름에 아버지가 돌아가셨다는 얘기는 들었어요.
Jason: And now his mother is very sick.
제이슨: 그리고 이번엔 어머니가 많이 편찮으시데요.

“I hope I run into a movie star when I’m in Hollywood.”
(할리우드에 있을 때 영화 스타와 마주쳤으면 좋겠다.)
*take (time) off: (언제) 쉬다.
“I’m taking Friday off to go to the dentist.”
(난 치과에 가느라고 금요일엔 쉬어.)
*pass away: 죽다. 돌아가다.
“It’s been seven years since my mother passed away.”
(어머니께서 돌아가신 지 7년이 됐어.)
