Kathie is talking to her friend Sally on the telephone.

Kathie: Sally I'm so sorry but I can't come to your party tonight.

Sally: I know. What happened?

Kathie: Something came up.

Sally: What happened?

Kathie: My daughter got sick. She came down with a bad cold.

Sally: Oh I'm sorry to hear that.

Kathie: I'm sure she'll be up and about in a couple of days.

Sally: Make sure she drinks a lot of liquids.

Kathie: She's doing that.

Sally: Good. Well I'm sorry you'll miss the party tonight.
