Phil: I had it out with Gary Sandy today.

필: 오늘 게리 샌디하고 결판을 냈어.

Troy: What did he do this time?

트로이: 이번에는 또 무슨 짓을 했는데?

Phil: Three people at work told me he's been spreading rumors that the company is going under.

필: 직원 3명한테 들었는데 회사가 파산한다는 소문을 퍼뜨린다는 거야.

Troy: Wow that's not a good thing for your employs to hear.

트로이: 와. 직원이 그런 말하고 다니는 거 들으면 안 좋지.

Phil: That's what I told him.

필: 나도 게리한테 그렇게 말했어.

Troy: What did he say?

트로이: 그러니까 뭐래?

Phil: He lost his cool and threatened to sue whoever said it.

필: 흥분해 가지고 자기가 소문 퍼뜨렸다고 말한 사람 전부 다 고소하겠다고 위협하더라니까.

Troy: What did you tell him?

트로이: 그래 뭐라고 해줬어?

Phil: After we argued for thirty minutes I told him if I heard another rumor that wasn't true I'd fire him.

필: 30분간 입씨름하다가 한 번만 더 말도 안 되는 소문이 들려오면 자르겠다고 했지.

Troy: That would be the best thing for your company.

트로이: 네 회사를 위해서도 그게 최선이겠다.

*have it out with (someone): (누구와) 결판을 내다. 매듭을 짓다.

"I'm going to have it out with her the next time I see her."

(다음에 그 여자를 만나면 결판을 낼 거야.)

*(a company) goes under: (회사가) 파산하다.

"If the bank goes under a lot of people will lose money."

(그 은행 파산해서 돈 잃은 사람이 부지기수야.)

*lose (one's) cool: 흥분하다. 격앙되다.

"He loses his cool often since he lost his job."

(그 사람 실직을 한 뒤로 흥분하는 일이 잦아.)
