(코리아타운뉴스) “Year for Donating and Volunteering”
Open Bank to hold mentoring conference for youth
After designating 2017 as the “year for focusing on donating and volunteering,” Open Bank announced that it will launch ▶ a mentoring program for Korean-American youth ▶ SBA loan donation campaign ▶ cruise trip for 30 households ▶ coin drive for employees ▶ volunteer work from the bank employees.
Open Bank’s philanthropic efforts are not only targeting its own employees, but also Korean-American households and youth, as well as the customers.
The conference to mentor college and high school students will be held in October. The mentors will be selected among successful working professionals who can share their life stories about school experience and job search.
The SBA loan donation campaign will allow customers to select a nonprofit organization they would like to donate to by the end of September. Then, Open Bank will fund $1,000 to that organization under the customer’s name. The bank is also giving away a three-night cruise trip to Ensenada, Mexico to customers.
The bank employees are also joining in on the effort as they are required to serve at least two hours of community service in a year.
“We’ve prepared a variety of campaigns to share our efforts to help the Korean community,” said Open Bank president Min Kim. “We encourage the rest of the community to join our efforts.”
Meanwhile, Open Bank added that its total assets have reached $800. The bank outlined its plans to go public as well as opening additional branch in Irvine.
