[오늘의 생활영어] give it a shot ; ~를 처음으로 시도해보다

(Mark is talking to Allan on the telephone… )

Mark: Allan, are you still looking to make some extra money?

Allan: Yes. Like I told you I don't make enough at my part-time job.

Mark: Well I need someone to work six hours on Saturdays and Sundays.

Allan: What I would be doing?

Mark: I need you at the cash register.

Allan: I never worked as a cashier before.

Mark: I'll train you. You'll pick it up fast.

Allan: Okay. I'll give it a shot. When do you need me to start?

Mark: How about next Saturday at 9:00? How does that work for you?

Allan: That's fine. I'll see you Saturday at 9. Thanks for thinking of me.
