[JSR] Korea Daily’s 13th Annual College Fair

The Korea Daily will be hosting its 13th Annual College Fair on September 22, 2018 at Berendo Street Baptist Church (964 S. Berendo St. Los Angeles, CA 90006).

The Korea Daily is the most-read Korean American newspaper published in nine metropolitan cities throughout the United States and boasts a daily subscription circulation that reaches over 200,000 people. And, every year the annual college fair brings in thousands of participants including a plethora of colleges and organizations presenting every year.

The annual college fair has consistently been a huge success. Last year nearly 4000 students and parents from diverse communities attended while all colleges and organizations participating were bolstered in numerous ways. Every year, the fair includes plenty of educational information, keynote speakers, and college booths for all students in every stage of their college preparation.

For the 13th Annual College Fair, the focus is on counseling sessions to help provide practical and specific knowledge with regards to the college admissions process. With that said, this year one can look forward to the keynote speaker in a booming academic field, an inspirational guest speaker by a public figure, and seminars and panels on the admissions process and financial aid. On top of that, special programming such as mock SATs and aptitude testing opportunities have been prepared.

A specialty to the annual college is the STEM lunch table discussion. As the annual college fair has evolved, beginning last year, a STEM lunch table discussion event was added and will continue this year as well. The STEM lunch table discussion gives select students an opportunity to sit with a mentor from their interested STEM field and have a friendly conversation with them and obtain much needed advice for their future aspirations. Furthermore, this year, special reservations can be made in order to schedule a STEM career consultation.

All in all, the speakers, seminars, panels, and special programs all help students of all ages prepare for later steps in their student careers and towards college applications. Also, the annual college fair helps parents who are just starting the journey with their children or are at the end understand the necessities of the college application process and more.
