[오늘의 생활영어] (something) is on its last legs; (물건의) 수명이 거의 다 되다

Ally and Tom are talking about their car.

Ally: I think our car is on its last legs.

Tom: You're right. It's been acting up all winter.

Ally: When it broke down yesterday it was the last straw.

Tom: The mechanic that looked at it said it would be expensive to repair.

Ally: That means we have a difficult decision.

Tom: Yeah. Do we spend money on our old car or buy another one?

Ally: Maybe we should start looking at used cars.

Tom: Before we do that we should check our financial situation.

Ally: Then let's do it now.

Tom: Good idea. We need to make a decision soon.
