[오늘의 생활영어] use up (something) or use it up; 다 써버리다

Two roommates are preparing to make dinner.

Becky: I'm going to barbecue some chicken tonight.

Laura: Great. I'll make a salad.

Becky: What happened to the salt and pepper?

Laura: We always keep it on the shelf above the stove. It should be there.

Becky: I can't find it.

Laura: Oh we used it up remember? We just forgot to buy more.

Becky: I'll make a run to the store and buy some.

Laura: We've been cooking instead of eating out for the last month.

Becky: We use salt and pepper for almost everything.
