[JSR] Huge Success for Gahr High School's Homecoming!

Gahr! Gahr! Gahr! Gahr! It was Friday, October 19, Gahr High School’s homecoming game and first dance of the year. Hundreds of students showed up at the last football game of the season to support and show school spirit. Before the official game started, each of the senior football players were recognized for their achievements. Their families came to celebrate this moment with their child with purple wreaths around their necks to represent honor. Everyone was in a good mood, and was ready for the game to start at 6:00 pm. Then around 7:30 pm, during the halftime of the game, Gahr High School announced the royalties of homecoming, who were voted for by the students throughout the week.

Unfortunately, Gahr High School has lost against Paramount High School, but this did not bring down the school spirit. After the game came to an end, it was time to party at the homecoming dance of the year. Clubs that participated in the dance came to the gym early around 8:00 pm to set up. Numerous clubs came to publicize their clubs at the dance by setting up mini games where one can win prizes. After what seemed like hours of preparation, the dance opened at 9:00 pm.

The students entered slowly first feeling awkward, but due to the DJ’s great job in choice of music, everyone seemed to adapt to their surroundings quickly. The whole gym was decorated in a Halloween theme and the DJ stood in the middle of the gym. There were spotlights gleaming throughout the gym for the students to enjoy dancing and to mingle with their peers.

Outside the back door of the gym, the school set up the games cup pong and foosball for students to enjoy while breathing in some fresh air. The teachers mostly spent their time here to talk with other advisors while supervising their student get enjoying the dance.

Gahr High School’s Homecoming including the dance was an experience that no one will forget. The continuous hours of dancing and having fun came to an end at 12:00 am. Kyle Sanders, a senior who attended both the football game and the homecoming dance stated that it was his first dance in all the four years of attending Gahr High School and that he regrets not going any other year.

Sanders and other students all hope that even after their time at Gahr High School is over, Gahr High School continues to make their homecoming night one to always remember.
