In the middle of the gym, Ms. Soo Kim, a math teacher, was wearing Hanbok, Korean traditional dress, as inviting students to tour her booth. She was introducing the Korean language course which Newman Smith high school has currently adopted.

“It would be my pleasure to see how American students can get to know about Korean culture and language through this new class“, said Ms. Soo. “Also, I would like to encourage Koreans who are living around DFW areas to support with more interest to Korean programs that are developing in American societies.

However, The Korean language class booth was crowded while offering Choco-Pie (Korean snack) and Korean traditional folding fan to any students who signed up for the class.
The Korean language course will start from this August. Students will have plenty of chances to approach Korean culture not only through learning the language, but also by K-pop, K-drama, Korean traditional food, Korean instruments, and Korean traditional games during the classes.

Any student in the class can participate in K-pop singing or dancing contest, and a student who gets the first prize in an essay contest which is to write about their review of the class, will get a chance to tour Korea.
