South Korea’s prominent filmmakers Ga-eun Yoon, Dong-hoon Choi and Dong-hyuk Hwang are vising Los Angeles.

Their visits were arranged thanks to the Korean Cinema Touring Program by the Korean Culture Center in L.A.

The three filmmakers will lecture at Chapman, UCLA, UCI and CSUN to meet with film majors.

The same program also invited Ryu Seung-wan and Juri Jeong in 2015, followed by Chan-wook Park and Ji-woon Kim in 2016.

“It is extremely important to expand the familiarity of Korean films for aspiring filmmakers studying at America’s biggest film schools,” said L.A.’s Korean Culture Center director Nak-jung Kim. “The interest in Korean films is only growing as the time goes by and this is an opportunity to promote the excellence and the efforts of Korean filmmakers. This could also lead to bridging the gap between American filmmakers and the ones in Korea in the future.”

Yoon directed films Guest (2011), Sprout (2013) and The World of Us (2016). Choi is known for The Big Swindle (2004), Tazza (2006), Jeon Woo-chi (2009), The Thieves (2012), Assassination (2015) and Overheard (2017). Hwang’s films include My Father (2007), The Crucible (2011), Miss Granny (2013) and The Fortress (2017).
