[오늘의 생활영어] a clean bill of health; 건강 증명서, 혹은 건강이 양호하다는 진단

(Two friends are having coffee … )

Trevor: Were you on time for your doctor's appointment?

Will: No I wasn't but the doctor was running late so it didn't make a difference.

Trevor: Did he give you a clean bill of health?

Will: Not exactly.

Trevor: Is there anything wrong?

Will: He told me that I have a hernia.

Trevor: Do you need an operation?

Will: I don't know. First I'm going to get a second opinion.

Trevor: Don't you trust your doctor?

Will: Sure but I want another doctor to confirm his opinion.

"I was very lucky because the plane was on time."

* to run late: (예약 시간에) 늦다

"She always runs late on Monday mornings."

* a second opinion: 다른 의사의 소견

"My insurance company wants me to get a second opinion before I have

my operation."
