[오늘의 생활영어] that brings back memories; 옛날 생각이 나게 하네요

(Matt is talking to his friend Dave … )

Matt: Hey Dave come take a look at my new car.

Dave: (looking at Matt's car) New car? You mean old car. That's a 1957 isn't it?

Matt: Yes it is. And it's in cherry condition.

Dave: You must have paid a mint for it.

Matt: Not really. I bought if off a man who is retired and he didn't want it anymore.

Dave: 1957! That brings back memories.

Matt: It does doesn't it? The early years of rock and roll.

Dave: And life was a simpler time.

Matt: The world has changed since then, hasn’t it?

Dave: It sure has.

* it’s (or something) is in cherry condition: (구어체) 아주 좋은 상태 깨끗한 상태 “Wow look at that old bicycle. It’s in cherry condition.”

* to pay a mint for it (or something):

“He paid a mint for his wife’s ring for her birthday.”

“Life is so complicated these days. I remember a simpler time when I was a kid.”
