[오늘의 생활영어] get something off (one's) chest; 속시원히 털어놓다

(Hal and Gene are at work … )

Hal: Well I finally had it out with John.

Gene: What about?

Hal: He's always parking in my space in the parking lot.

Gene: What did you say to him?

Hal: I told him I had to get something off my chest.

Gene: And what happened? What did he say?

Hal: He got all bent out of shape.

Gene: Did he deny it?

Hal: No. He just said it was no big deal.

Gene: It's good that you finally told him how you felt.

* have it out with (one): ~와 어려운 얘기 의견차이 등을 해결보다

"I'm going to have it out with my boss if I don't get a raise."

* get bent out of shape:

"It seems she always gets bent out of shape about anything."

* no big deal: 별 일이 아니다

"I know you're upset about canceling our plans but it's no big deal to me."
