(Les and Fred are deciding where to have lunch…)

Fred: Let‘s have sushi for lunch.

프레드: 점심은 스시로 먹자.

Les: No! Raw fish turns my stomach.

레스: 싫어! 날 생선은 속이 메스꺼워.

Fred: How about the Italian place on Melrose Avenue?

프레드: 멜로즈 길에 있는 이태리 식당은 어때?

Les: It’s out of my price range.

레스: 거긴 내가 생각한 가격보다 비싸.

Fred: I give up. You tell me where you want to eat.

프레드: 난 손들었어. 어디서 먹고 싶은지 네가 말해.

Les: How about Mexican food?

레스: 멕시코 음식은 어때?

Fred: That‘ll work. Do you know a good place?

프레드: 그러면 되겠네. 좋은 데 알아?

Les: Of course I do.

레스: 물론 알지.

Fred: How do you get there?

프레드: 어떻게 갈 거야?

Les: I’ll drive. It‘s not far from here.

레스: 내가 운전할게. 여기서 그리 멀지 않아.

기억할만한 표현

*out of (one‘s) price range: 가격이 예산을 넘어서다. 비싸다.

“We’ve looked at houses all week and they‘re all out of our price range.” (한 주 내내 집을 봤는데 하나같이 가격이 우리가 잡은 예산보다 높아.)

*give up: 포기하다.

“I gave up trying to help him because he wasn’t telling me the truth.”

(그 사람이 진실을 얘기 안 하니까 나도 도와주는 걸 포기했어.)

*That will work: 그러면 되겠네. 그거면 됐어.

Jim: “Do you want to leave at four this afternoon?” (짐: 오늘 오후 4시에 떠날까?)
