[오늘의 생활영어] (someone) starts; (누가) 일을 시작하다

Roger is talking to Jim in his office. (로저가 짐의 사무실에서 대화하고 있다.)

Roger: So did you meet with Darren?

로저: 그래 대런은 만나봤어?

Jim: Yes I did.



짐: 응 만났어.

Roger: How did it go?

로저: 어떻게 됐어?

Jim: Very nicely. He starts next Monday.

짐: 아주 잘 됐어. 다음주 월요일부터 근무해.

Roger: Great. He's really good. The students are going to like him.

로저: 그래? 대런은 아주 괜찮은 강사야. 학생들이 좋아할 거야.

Jim: Would you do me a favor?

짐: 부탁 하나만 들어줄래?

Roger: Sure what?

로저: 그래. 뭔데?

Jim: Would you show him around the school so he knows where things are?

짐: 대런 데리고 학교 안내 좀 해줄 수 있어? 뭐가 어디 있는지 알게 말이야.

Roger: Sure.

로저: 물론이지.

Jim: I think he's going to work out fine.

짐: 대런이 아주 잘 할거야.

기억할만한 표현

*how did it go?: 어떻게 됐어?

"How did it go with you and your boss. Did you come to an understanding?"

(상사하고는 어떻게 됐어. 서로를 이해하게 된 거야?)

*show (someone) around: (누구에게 장소나 물건을) 안내하다 보여주다.

"I'll show you around the building."

(건물 여기저기를 안내해 줄게.)

*(someone or something) is going to work out: (누가 혹은 무엇이) 잘 해내다 잘 되다. "She's very good on the computer. She'll work out fine." (그 여자는 컴퓨터를 아주 잘 다뤄. 잘 해낼 거야.)
