[오늘의 생활영어] land a (or this) job; 직장을 잡다

Roger is showing Darren around the school where Darren will now start working.

Darren: Thank you so much for helping me land this job.

Roger: Oh you're welcome but you had the interview not me.

Darren: Money is tight for me right now and this job is a lifesaver.

Roger: Good. I'm glad I could help.

Darren: (Walking into a classroom) Is this my classroom?

Roger: Yes this is Room 216 and it's yours.

Darren: It's nice and big.

Roger: If it gets hot in here the switch for the ceiling fans is behind the door.

Darren: That's good to know.

*money is tight: 돈에 쪼들리다.

"I can't go to a movie for a while because money is tight."

*(someone or something) is a lifesaver:

"Thank you for driving me to the airport. You're a lifesaver."

*hang out: 놀다.

"My friends and I like to hang out at the mall on the weekends."
