U.S. Global Leadership Coalition discusses about Global Financial Markets

“How Development Finance Fights Global Poverty”

U.S. Global Leadership Coalition(USGLC) has held a lunch event titled, ‘How development finance fights global poverty and creates Texas jobs’, in downtown Dallas on the 26th. Jonathan Fredi, the manager of USGLC Texas, hosted the event while the participants were enjoying the dinner. USGLC creates connections with 500 businesses and NGOs and aims for protecting national security, building economic prosperity, strengthening humanitarian values

Ray Washburne, the CEO of Overseas Private Investment Corporation(OPIC) was invited as a guest speaker in the event as he led the discussions on the topic which is the title of the event. OPIC is a self-sustaining U.S. government’s development finance institution that helps American businesses invest in emerging markets and supports about 150 private capitals’ investments to developing countries. The agency’s attribution to the U.S. economy is also held through its analysis on strategies and prospects of financial market investment.

The event was led by serious discussions, issuing OPIC’s roles and goals on Global finance markets and economic development. Washburne had mentioned that “People demand for good leadership, but most of them do not recognize how much corruptions are infused in the political and economic systems” and he also emphasized on proper leaderships to bring improvements to the economy society.

During the Q&A time, the participants such as international trade attorney and Texas Treasury safekeeping trust company employee, actively engaged to suggest questions while Washburne responded.



Washburne had currently supported funding for constructing twelve schools in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. The establishments of the schools are provide education facilities for about 700 students. He mentioned that “Zambia has touched my heart when I went to Africa for a mission trip”.
