Richard a house painter is talking to his cousin Eddie. (주택 페인트공인 리처드가 사촌인 에디와 대화하고 있다.)

Eddie: Let's play some golf Sunday.

에디: 일요일에 골프 좀 칠까.

Richard: I'd love to but I have to work.

리처드: 마음은 굴뚝 같은데 일해야 돼.

Eddie: I thought you took Sundays off.

에디: 일요일은 쉬잖아.

Richard: I do but I'm behind schedule. So I have to work this Sunday.

리처드: 그랬지. 그런데 일이 밀렸어. 덕분에 이번 일요일엔 일해야 돼.

Eddie: What happened?

에디: 무슨 일 있었어?

Richard: I had two houses and an office to paint this week but I got sick.

리처드: 이번 주에 집 두 채하고 사무실 한 곳의 페인트 칠을 했어야 됐는데 몸이 안좋았어.

Eddie: So you couldn't finish them?

에디: 그럼 다 못 끝낸 거야?

Richard: No I couldn't. So I have some catching up to do because I have new jobs next week.

리처드: 응 다 못했어. 그래서 밀린 일을 마저 해야 돼. 다음 주에 새 일거리가 있거든.

Eddie: If I can lend a hand let me know.

에디: 내 도움이 필요하면 얘기해.

Richard: Thanks. I could use some help.

리처드: 고마워. 도움이 필요할 수도 있겠다.

기억할만한 표현

*take (days or months) off: 일을 쉬다.

"I'm going to take next Friday off."

*to be or fall behind schedule: 예정보다 일이 더디다.

"Our lunch breaks are getting too long. We're falling behind schedule at work."

"Could you lend me a hand with this desk. I want to move it but it's really heavy."
