[JSR] Wake Up for Senior Sunrise

On Thursday September 12, 2019, Crescenta Valley High School seniors woke up early to attend their very own Senior Sunrise. This event was prepared by the Associated Student Body (ASB) as well as teachers, for the start to the senior’s last year of high school. This event officially started at six-thirty am, although many students came as early as six am to spend more time at the event. Senior Sunrise took place at the track field on campus, where teachers supervised.

The ASB took time to plan this event for the students, and it was definitely a great success. They had made sure to put posters up all over the school, as well as publicizing it through their Instagram to make sure that no one missed this special moment. During the event, donuts and hot chocolate were provided, as well as beautiful posters for seniors to take pictures with. Senior Sunrise gave students a chance to get together with friends and share a special moment while allowing them time to destress and enjoy the little things in life.

Although only seniors could attend this event, the track field was filled with lively energy from the students. Despite how early it was, their faces lit up with smiles and their laughs radiated through the field. Many of them brought blankets to cover themselves from the chilly morning breeze or just to place on the grass to sit on. Additionally, many seniors brought cameras to capture this moment with their friends. The weather was amazing that day, adding to the students’ bright mood. As the sun began to rise, students were able to get amazing photos and share them on their social media accounts.

The event eventually began to near its end near seven am, due to students who had zero period, a class which is offered before the normal start of the school day. However, this did not stop the students who did not have early class, and many continued to sit and enjoy time with their friends. One of the Senior Sunrise attendees said, “It was so worth it to get up early and enjoy this simple event. I have never done this with my friends, so it was really memorable and a great start to my senior year memories.” The students seemed to have enjoyed this event, and the efforts of the ASB are greatly appreciated.
