[오늘의 생활영어] it’s not the end of the world; 그렇다고 세상이 끝난건 아니죠

(Ted and Jerry are meeting some friends to go to a movie … )

Ted: Hi Jerry is Jenny coming with us?

Jerry: Yes why?

Ted: Nothing just asking.

Jerry: Just asking? Then why are you blushing? Oh, you have a crush on her, don’t you?

Ted: What are you talking about?

Jerry: Come on admit it. You like her.

Ted: Well. maybe a little but I don’t have the guts to ask her out.

Jerry: What are you afraid of?

Ted: If she turns me down I would totally die.

Jerry: You’ve got to take a chance. It wouldn’t be the end of the world.

* ask (somebody) out: 데이트 신청 하다

“I asked her out but she told me no.” (그녀에게 데이트 신청을 했는데 거절했습니다.)

“She was so convincing that I couldn’t turn her down.”

“I totally died when the teacher asked me a question that I couldn’t answer.”
