[오늘의 생활영어] in dire need of; 절실히 필요해서

(Anthony is talking to his friend Vince on the telephone…)

Anthony: Hi Vince it‘s Anthony.

Vince: Hi Anthony. What’s up?

Anthony: Do you want to play some tennis today?

Vince: I can‘t. I have a long list of things to do.

Anthony: Like what?

Vince: To begin with my car is in dire need of a wash. It’s so dirty.

Anthony: And what else do you have to do?

Vince: I have to clear out the garage. There‘s so much junk in it.

Anthony: But it’s such a beautiful day today.

Vince: I know but I‘ve got to get these things done. Let’s play tennis next Saturday.
