[오늘의 생활영어] keep an eye on(someone or something); 잘 지켜보다

(Hope is cooking in the kitchen when her husband Laurence walks in…)

Laurence: Hmmm what smells good?

Hope: I'm making a stew. Oh would you do me a favor?

Laurence: Sure. What do you need?

Hope: Keep an eye on the rice please?

Laurence: Okay. This is a lot of stew you're making.

Hope: Well Lloyd and Barbara are coming over for dinner tonight.

Laurence: They are?

Hope: Yes. I told you yesterday.

Laurence: It must have slipped my mind.

Hope: Honey sometimes with you everything goes in one ear and out the other.
