(Two friends are talking at lunch … )

Fran: I got an e-mail from an old high school friend yesterday.

Sara: Is that unusual?

Fran: Yeah. I haven't heard from her in a while.

Sara: I've lost touch with most of my old friends. Only one or two keep me posted about what they're doing.

Fran: It's really hard to stay in touch when people move around so much.

Sara: You're right. People just drift apart.

Fran: I hope we don't do that.

Sara: I don't think we have to worry about that.

Fran: What makes you so sure?

Sara: I've learned how important good friends are.
