[오늘의 생활영어] take (one) at (one's) word; (누구의) 말을 믿다

(Sammy and his wife Judith are talking…)

Judith: You have been very quiet. Do you have something on your mind?

Sammy: Nothing that I really want to talk about.

Judith: We've always talked about everything. Why don't you want to get it off your chest?

Sammy: I don't want to talk about it now. I just don't think it's the right time.

Judith: I'll take you at your word.

Sammy: Thank you. I appreciate your patience.

Judith: I learned a long time ago that it doesn't do any good to have it out with you.

Sammy: I don't remember having it out with you.

Judith: You have a short memory. I remember many times.

Sammy: Well, I call them discussions.
