[오늘의 생활영어] to be on hold ; 기다리다

(Roger is on the phone at work when Jim walks into his office … )

Jim: Who are you talking to?

Roger: The manager of my apartment. Actually I'm on hold.

Jim: Is there a problem with your apartment?

Roger: No. My niece and nephew are visiting me this summer and I wanted to know when the swimming pool was going to be ready to use.

Jim: How long is their stay?

Roger: They'll be here for two weeks.

Jim: Is this the nephew whose name is also Roger?

Roger: Yes. My sister named him after me.

* how long is (one's) stay?:

Jim: "My sister is coming to see me."

Roger: "Oh really? How long is her stay?"

*name (one) after (someone): ~의 이름을 따라 짓다

"My friend names his son after his father."

* right you are: (당신 말씀이) 맞고 말고요

Jim: "Are you going to the beach on Saturday?"

Roger: "Right you are. I am."
