[오늘의 생활영어] bored to death: 심심해 죽겠다

(Mack and his wife Ginny are talking about their vacation … )

(맥과 아내 지니가 휴가 갈 얘기를 하고 있다…)

Ginny: Take a look at the brochures I got today.

지니: 오늘 내가 가져온 안내책자들좀 봐.



Mack: These are only about the pacific islands.

맥: 이건 태평양 섬들에 대한 것들뿐인데.

Ginny: You said you didn't want to do a lot of driving.

지니: 많이 운전하고 싶지 않다며.

Mack: That's true. I did say that.

맥: 그거야 그렇지. 그렇게 얘기야 했지.

Ginny: Well you can't do much driving on an island.

지니: 그러니까 섬에서는 운전을 많이 할 필요가 없잖아.

Mack: Won't we be bored to death?

맥: 너무 심심하지 않을까?

Ginny: I think it will be very romantic.

지니: 안 아주 낭만적일 것 같은데?

Mack: But it'll cost a fortune.

맥: 하지만 아주 비쌀텐데.

Ginny: It will be worth it.

지니: 그래도 가치가 있을 거야.

Mack: Let's think it over.

맥: 다시 생각해보자.

기억할만한 표현

* take a look at: 잘 살펴보다

"I took a look at the house but I'm not going to buy it."

(제가 그 집을 눈여겨보긴 했지만 사지는 않을 겁니다.)

* cost a fortune: 엄청나게 비싸다

"I would love to buy a BMW but it costs a fortune."

(저도 BMW를 사고야 싶지만 워낙 비싸서요.)

* think it over: 숙고하다

"She thought it over and decided not to get married." (그녀는 다시 생각해보고나서 결혼하지 않기로 했습니다.)
