Jim: Have you seen Terry?
짐: 테리 봤어?
Roger: No. Why? Is he late?
로저: 아니. 왜? 아직 안 왔어?
Jim: Yes. It’s not like him to be late.
짐: 응. 지각하고 그러는 사람이 아닌데.
Roger: Why don’t you give him a ring?
로저: 전화 한 번 해보지 그래?
Jim: I did but he doesn’t answer his phone at home and he doesn’t have a cell phone.
짐: 했지. 근데 집 전화는 안 받고 휴대폰은 아예 없어.
Roger: Maybe he’s stuck in traffic.
로저: 길이 막혀서 그러는 지도 모르지.
Jim: He doesn’t drive. He takes the bus everywhere.
짐: 운전 안 해. 어딜 가든 버스 타고 다니잖아.
Roger: Maybe his bus came late.
로저: 버스가 늦게 왔을 수도 있잖아.
Jim: That could be it.
짐: 그럴 지도 모르겠다.
Roger: He’s sure to be here soon.
로저: 틀림없이 곧 올 거야.

*It’s not like (someone) to (do something): ~할 사람이 아니다.
“Brian is always late. It’s not like him to be on time anywhere.” (브라이언은 항상 늦어. 어디서고 제 시간에 올 사람이 아니야.)
*stuck in traffic: 교통 체증에 걸리다.
“I’m late because I was stuck in traffic.” (길이 막히는 바람에 늦었어요.)
*(one) is sure to (do something): 꼭 ~할 거야.
