Ken: Why didn't you show up for class this morning?

켄: 오늘 아침에 왜 수업에 안 나왔어?

Daniel: I don't even want to talk about it. My car broke down again.

대니얼: 그 얘긴 하고 싶지도 않아. 차가 또 고장났어.

Ken: What happened?

켄: 무슨 일인데?

Daniel: I can't get it started.

대니얼: 시동이 안 걸리는 거야.

Ken: Have you thought about buying a new car?

켄: 새 차 사는 건 생각해봤어?

Daniel: Yeah I've thought about it but I can't afford it. I'm flat broke.

대니얼: 응 해봤는데 능력이 안 돼. 빈털터리야.

Ken: Maybe you can lease a car. It doesn't cost as much.

켄: 리스 할 수도 있지. 사는 것 만큼 안 드니까.

Daniel: Really? How much cheaper is it?

대니얼: 정말? 얼마나 싼데?

Ken: Look in the newspaper. There are a lot of car sales now.

켄: 신문 찾아봐. 지금 자동차 세일하는 거 무지 많아.

Daniel: That's a good idea. I'll look into it.

대니얼: 그거 좋은 생각이다. 신문

*Show up: 나타나다. 참석하다.

“I have fifteen students in my class, but only four showed up today.” (우리 반 학생이 15명인데 오늘 4명만 출석했어.)

*(one) is flat broke: 빈털터리다.
