Sandra: My husband drives me up a wall.

샌드라: 우리 남편 때문에 미치겠어.

Mary: Why? What did he do now?

메리: 왜? 이번엔 또 무슨 일을 벌였는데?

Sandra: I asked him to go shopping with me at the mall.

샌드라: 나하고 샤핑 몰로 샤핑 하자고 그랬거든.

Mary: And what did he say?

메리: 그래 뭐라고 그래?

Sandra: He acted like I shot his dog.

샌드라: 펄쩍 뛰는 거야.

Mary: My husband is like that.

메리: 우리 남편도 그래.

Sandra: I had to drag him kicking and screaming to the mall!

샌드라: 샤핑 몰에 억지로 끌고 갔다니까!

Mary: I gave up asking my husband to go shopping with me. It’s like pulling teeth!

메리: 난 남편한테 샤핑 같이 가자고 안 해. 이 뽑는 것 만큼 힘들어!

Sandra: Oh, but take the remote control away from them and it’s war!

샌드라: 아, 반대로 남편한테서 TV 리모트 콘트롤 빼으려고 해 봐. 그건 전쟁이야!

Mary: Men don’t like to shop with their wives. It’s in their DNA.

메리: 남자들은 아내와 샤핑 가는 거 싫어해. 유전자에 들어있어.

*(someone) drives (one) up a wall: 화를 돋구다.
“My son drives me up a wall with his loud music.” (우리 아들은 음악을 크게 틀어서 내 화를 돋궈.)

*give up (something): (무엇을) 끊다. 그만 두다.
“I gave up driving cars that cost a lot of money in gas.” (난 이제 휘발유 넣느라 돈 많이 들어가는 차를 안 몰아.)

*It’s like pulling teeth: (누구에게 무엇을 시키기가) 너무 힘들다. (drag (one) kicking and screaming과 비슷한 말)
