(데이브가 영화관에서 자리를 찾고 있다 …)

Dave: Excuse me, is anyone sitting in this seat?

데이브: 죄송하지만 여기 앉는 사람 있나요?

Woman: Yes.I'm sorry this seat is taken.

여자: 네 . 미안하지만 주인이 있어요.

Dave: How about this other seat?

데이브: 그럼 여기 이 자리는요?

Woman: No no one is sitting in that seat. That one is up for grabs.

여자: 아뇨 거긴 아무도 앉지 않아요. 누구든지 앉으면 되죠.

Dave: Thank you. Have you heard anything about this movie?

데이브: 고맙습니다. 이 영화 에 대해서는 뭘 듣고 오셨나요?

Woman: Yes. My friends have told me that it is really good.

여자: 네. 친구들은 영화가 아주 좋다고 하더군요.

Dave:I don't keep up with reviews of movies.

데이브: 전 영화평들을 주의해서 보지 않아서 말이죠.

Woman: Neither do I. I like to decide for myself if I like a movie or not.

여자: 저도 마찬가지에요. 좋은 영화인지 아닌지 제가 결정하고 싶어요.

Dave: Everyone's a critic so I also like to decide for myself.

데이브: 사람은 모두 평론가죠. 그래서 저도 스스로 판단하길 좋아합니다.



기억할만한 표현

* (something) is up for grabs: 아무나 ~해도 됩니다 갖는 사람이 임자에요.

"The pizza in the refrigerator is up for grabs. Anyone can have it." (냉장고에 있는 피자는 먹는 사람이 임자에요. 아무나 먹어도 돼요.)

* keep up with: ~를 따라가다 주의해서 보다

"I don't keep up with fashion. I just wear what I like." (저는 유행을 따라가지 않아요. 그냥 저 입고 싶은 것 입고 다니는 편이죠.)

* everyone's a critic: 모든 사람은 나름대로의 의견이 있다
