[오늘의 생활영어] go under; 적자다, 손해를 보다

(Kathy and Erica are talking about where to go for lunch… )

(캐시와 에리카가 어디서 점심을 먹을까 얘기중이다….)

Kathy: Let's go to that Italian restaurant we went to before.

캐시: 전에 갔던 그 이탈리안 식당에 가자.

Erica: They're not in business anymore.

에리카: 거긴 더 이상 영업을 안해.

Kathy: What happened? The food was so good there.

캐시: 왜? 음식이 너무 맛있었는데.

Erica: They went under.

에리카: 적자가 났어.

Kathy: Really? That's too bad. I liked that place.

캐시: 정말? 그거 너무 안됐다. 난 좋았는데.

Erica: I know. Me too.

에리카: 그러게. 나도.

Kathy: So where should we go? We only have an hour you know.

캐시: 그럼 우리 어디 가지? 한 시간 밖에 없잖아.

Erica: Let's give that Mexican restaurant a try.

에리카: 그 멕시코 식당 한 번 가볼까?

Kathy: Okay. I like Mexican food.

캐시: 그래. 난 멕시코 음식 좋아.

Erica: There's usually a long line to get in.

에리카: 보통은 들어가려면 줄이 길어.

기억할만한 표현

* they're not in business: 폐업하다 문닫다

"That shoe store is closed. They're not in business anymore." (그 신발 가게는 닫았습니다. 더이상 영업 안해요.)

* let's give (someone or something) a try: 시도해보다

"Let's give that market downtown a try. Maybe they're open." (다운타운에 있는 그 마킷에 가봅시다. 어쩌면 열었을 수도 있죠.)

* a long line to get in: 줄이 길다

"That cafe is so good there's usually a long line to get in." (그 카페는 아주 좋아요 보통 들어가려면 줄이 길어요.)
