Mark: Hey Clay how is it going?

마크: 클레이 어떻게 지내?

Clay: Good. How about yourself?

클레이: 잘 지내. 넌 어때?

Mark: Pretty good. Did you get my message?

마크: 아주 잘 지내. 내 메시지 받았어?

Clay: What message?

클레이: 무슨 메시지?

Mark: I called yesterday and asked Chris to have you call me.

마크: 어제 전화했는데 크리스가 받길래 나한테 전화 해달라는 말 좀 너한테 전해달라고 했는데.

Clay: It must have gone in one ear and out the other because I didn't get it.

클레이: 내가 모르는 걸 보니 한 귀로 듣고 한 귀로 흘렸네.

Mark: My son does the same thing.

마크: 우리 아들도 꼭 그래.

Clay: Well I'm all ears. What did you want to tell me?

클레이: 어쨌든 지금 귀를 쫑긋하고 듣고 있으니까 무슨 말 하려고 했는지 얘기해봐.

Mark: I'm putting together a poker game for Friday night. Can you play?

마크: 금요일 저녁에 포커 게임을 하려고 사람들 모으고 있는데 할래?

Clay: You can count on me.

클레이: 난 확실히 하지.

*go in one ear and out the other: 한 귀로 듣고 한 귀로 흘리다.

“He told me what was wrong with my computer but it went in one ear and out the other.” (그 사람이 내 컴퓨터가 이상하다고 얘기해줬는데 한 귀로 듣고 한 귀로 흘렸어.)

*put (something) together: 모으다. 조립하다. (또는 put together something).
