Katherine: I can't wait to see the look on Ken's face when we surprise him on his birthday.

David: It's not going to be a surprise.



Katherine: What do you mean?



David: Ken knows about the party.



Katherine: How? Who told him? It was supposed to be a surprise.



David: Terry spilled the beans.



Katherine: Terry told him?



David: Yes. Terry let the cat out of the bag. Ken knows all about it.



Katherine: I could kill Terry for telling Ken about it.



David: He probably didn't mean it.





(캐서린이 직장에서 데이빗과 이야기를 나누는데…)

캐서린: 생일날 깜짝 파티를 해주면 켄이 어떤 표정을 지을까 너무 궁금하다.

데이빗: 깜짝 파티 아니야.

캐서린: 그게 무슨 말이야?

데이빗: 켄도 파티 하는 거 알고 있어.

캐서린: 어떻게 알아? 누가 얘기한 거야? 깜짝 파티 하기로 했잖아.

데이빗: 테리가 비밀을 털어놓았어.

캐서린: 테리가 켄한테 얘기했어?

데이빗: 응. 테리가 비밀을 흘렸어. 켄도 다 알고 있어.

캐서린: 켄한테 그걸 얘기하다니 테리 때문에 미치겠다.

데이빗: 일부러 그런 건 아닐 거야.

▶let the cat out of the bag: 비밀을 누설하다.
“I know about the company merger. My boss let the cat out of the bag. He told me.”
(회사 합병되는 거 알아. 부장님이 무심결에 말했어. 나한테 얘기하더라니까.)

▶I could kill (one for doing something): 화가 치밀다.
“I could kill my roommate for taking my car without asking me.”
(룸메이트가 아무 말 없이 내 차를 가져가서 열 받았어.)

▶(One) didn’t mean it: 그러려고 그런 게 아니었어. 실수였어.
“I didn’t mean to spill my drink on your shirt. I’m sorry.”
(일부러 네 셔츠에 음료수 흘린 거 아니야. 미안해.)
