Mr. Howard: I don't think studying English is a high priority of yours Martha.

하워드 선생님: 마서 넌 영어 공부를 최우선으로 생각하지 않는 것 같아.

Martha: But it is. I really need to study English.

마서: 하지만 영어공부 중요하잖아요. 저 정말 영어 공부 해야 돼요.

Mr. Howard: You're always late you don't do your homework. You're taking this lightly.

하워드 선생님: 넌 항상 지각하고 숙제도 안 하잖니. 영어공부를 대수롭지 않게 여기고 있어.

Martha: It seems like that but it's not true.

마서: 겉으로 보면 그런데요 실제로는 안 그래요.

Mr. Howard: You haven't been keeping up with your classmates.

하워드 선생님: 반 아이들을 못 따라가잖아.

Martha: Please give me another chance to show you.

마서: 선생님 절 보여드릴 기회를 한 번 더 주세요.

Mr. Howard: I can do that if you promise to work harder.

하워드 선생님: 더 열심히 공부 하겠다고 약속하면 그렇게 하마.

Martha: I promise. I will show up early every day with my homework done.

마서: 약속해요. 숙제 해서 매일 일찍 등교할 게요.

Mr. Howard: I hope so. I want you to do well.

하워드 선생님: 그러길 바란다. 네가 잘 했으면 좋겠어.

Martha: Starting tomorrow I'll be your best student.

마서: 내일부터 최고의 학생이 될게요.

*keep up with (others): (다른 사람들을) 따라가다. 보조를 맞추다.
“Tina can’t keep up with the other runners.” (티나는 다른 달리기 선수들을 못 따라가.)

*give (one) a (or another) chance: (누구에게) 기회를 주다.
“He gave her a chance to take the test again.” (그는 그녀에게 재시험을 볼 기회를 줬어.)
