Dr. Young-bin Lim of The Walts Delivers Lecture on Facial Anatomy-Based Filler Procedures at Galderma’s “GAIN HERO ROAD SHOW IN DAEGU”

Dr. Young-bin Lim, Chief Director of The Walts, participated as a speaker at Galderma Korea’s “GAIN HERO ROAD SHOW IN DAEGU,” held on May 23 at the Daegu Grand Hotel. During the event, he delivered a lecture on safe and effective filler injection techniques and facial anatomy in filler procedures.

GAIN, which stands for Galderma Aesthetic Injector Network, is a global aesthetic education program operated by Galderma. It serves as an educational platform for healthcare professionals, providing opportunities to share clinical experience and the latest insights on various aesthetic procedures, including fillers, skin boosters, Sculptra, and botulinum toxin treatments.
 
In his lecture, Dr. Lim focused on the significance of anatomical understanding in filler procedures. He emphasized that filler treatment is not simply a matter of adding volume to areas with volume deficiency, but rather a medical procedure that requires comprehensive consideration of the facial skeletal framework, soft tissues, the course of blood vessels, fat compartments, retaining ligaments, and muscle layers.
 
Dr. Lim explained that decisions regarding the injection layer, injection volume, and injection direction for each facial area should be based on an understanding of anatomical structures. He noted that even for the same type of filler procedure, the approach may differ depending on the patient’s facial shape, tissue thickness, aging pattern, and previous treatment history. Taking these individual differences into account is essential for achieving more natural-looking results.
 
The lecture also covered the characteristics and clinical applications of Galderma’s major product portfolio, including Restylane fillers. Dr. Lim stated that product selection should be based on factors such as the rheological properties of the filler, the movement of the treatment area, and the level of tissue support required. He also explained that different design strategies are needed for areas such as the under-eye region, lips, facial contours, and lifting procedures.
 

In addition, Dr. Lim emphasized the importance of assessing the overall balance of the face before treatment in order to reduce excessive or awkward-looking volume and unnatural facial contours after filler procedures. Rather than focusing solely on improving a single area, he said that practitioners should consider three-dimensionality from both frontal and lateral views, changes in facial expression, and continuity with surrounding tissues.
 
“Filler procedures are often perceived as relatively simple treatments, but in reality, they are medical procedures that must be based on a sufficient understanding of facial structure and tissue characteristics,” said Dr. Lim. “There may be no single correct answer in filler treatment, but there are certainly incorrect approaches. For this reason, accurately understanding facial anatomical structures and performing precise procedures are of utmost importance.”
 
Meanwhile, Dr. Young-bin Lim is a Restylane Master Doctor and serves as director of The Walts, an official Restylane Training Center. He actively conducts lectures and live seminars for medical professionals in Korea and abroad. In addition to serving as Vice President of the Korean Academy of Facelift & Contouring, he continues to engage in various academic activities, establishing himself as a leading doctor who contributes to setting standards in the field of aesthetic medicine in Korea.
