Japan’s KOHJIN BIO Signs Strategic Three-Way MOU with GenCelix and DKMG

Korea-Japan Alliance Brings Together Japan’s Regenerative Medicine Expertise with Korea’s Cell Manufacturing and Clinical Infrastructure

KOHJIN BIO, a Japan-based company specializing in regenerative medicine, announced that it signed a three-way Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with South Korea’s GenCelix and DKMG on September 7 at Hilton Garden Inn Seoul Gangnam to advance cooperation in regenerative medicine and cell therapy.

The agreement was signed by NAKAMURA TAKAHITO, Founder & Chairman of KOHJIN BIO; KANG MINJI, Founder & CEO of GenCelix; and Kim Hyungsuk, President of DKMG(DK Medical Group).
 
Under the agreement, the three companies will officially launch the Korea-Japan Regenerative Medicine Alliance, establishing a long-term framework for cooperation that connects regenerative medicine technologies with clinical and research infrastructure across Korea and Japan.
 
Going forward, the three companies plan to focus their collaboration on five key areas: clinical cooperation, research and development, manufacturing and technology, education and academic exchange, and international business development. By leveraging their respective expertise and working together across these areas, the alliance aims to accelerate the development and validation of regenerative medicine and cell therapies, while also enhancing their ability to navigate regulatory requirements in both Korea and Japan.
 
Within the alliance, KOHJIN BIO will leverage its regenerative medicine network and business infrastructure in Japan to facilitate clinical and technological exchange between the two countries. In particular, the company plans to expand collaboration with medical institutions and business partners in Japan and develop regenerative medicine cooperation models that comply with the relevant laws and regulations of both countries, with the goal of advancing global commercialization.
 

GenCelix, a company specializing in cell technology and manufacturing, will be responsible for GMP-based cell manufacturing and quality control (QC), the development of manufacturing standard operating procedures (SOPs), process optimization, and technology transfer. The company will also advance the research, development, and manufacturing standardization of stem cells, immune cells including NK cells, and cell banking platforms.
 
DKMG will be responsible for the development and validation of cell therapy protocols, leveraging its clinical network across multiple medical specialties and the DK Stem Cell Research Institute. It also plans to conduct multicenter investigator-initiated clinical studies and operate medical professional training and international fellowship programs.
