Patterson brings more than three decades of experience in international education and school leadership across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and South America. Before joining Dwight School Seoul, he served as Principal of the Australian International School (AIS) Singapore, a leading IB World School.

Born and educated in Australia, Patterson began his international education career in France in 1992. Since then, he has worked with diverse school communities around the world, leading initiatives to strengthen teaching and learning, develop high-performing teams, and create greater alignment across every stage of the student journey.

Having previously worked in Asia, Patterson was already familiar with Dwight School Seoul’s reputation for academic excellence, personalized learning, and globally minded education. He was particularly drawn to the school’s commitment to recognizing the individual strengths of every student and preparing young people to participate confidently and compassionately in an interconnected world.

At the heart of Patterson’s educational philosophy are strong relationships, clarity of purpose, and excellence in teaching and learning. He believes successful schools are built on trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to students’ academic growth, personal wellbeing, and long-term success.

Throughout his career, Patterson has placed particular emphasis on building authentic relationships with students, faculty, staff, and families. His leadership approach focuses on creating inclusive environments in which every member of the school community feels supported, appropriately challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.

In his new role, Patterson will work closely with the Dwight School Seoul community to build upon the school’s established strengths while guiding its next stage of growth. His appointment reflects the school’s continued commitment to delivering a forward-looking education, academic excellence and nurturing confident, compassionate, and globally minded learners.

As part of both the Dwight global network and the Singapore-based Global Schools Group (GSG), Dwight School Seoul offers students the combined benefits of two extensive international education networks. Connections with Dwight sister schools in New York, London, Shanghai, Dubai, Hanoi, Tokyo, and Riyadh, as well as Dwight Global Online School, create opportunities for cross-cultural learning, international collaboration, and meaningful global relationships. At the same time, GSG’s network of more than 64 schools across the Asia-Pacific region provides access to a holistic educational environment and broader academic and career pathways, helping students prepare for future study and success in an increasingly interconnected world.

As Dwight School Seoul begins this new chapter, the school looks forward to the experience, perspective, and leadership Patterson will bring to its students and wider community.
