Held under the theme “Injectable Renaissance,” the symposium brought together approximately 300 aesthetic medical professionals and industry representatives from Korea and abroad. The event highlighted the physical properties of Restylane, Galderma’s hyaluronic acid (HA) filler brand, as well as treatment strategies utilizing its proprietary NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) technology.

During the main session, “Restylane RESTAGE: NASHA Renaissance,” Dr. Kim delivered a lecture titled “Customized Aesthetic Approaches for Different Facial Areas in Middle-Aged Women.”

In his presentation, Dr. Kim discussed the anatomical changes associated with facial aging, including reduced dermal elasticity, atrophy and sagging of facial fat pads, and weakening of supporting ligaments. He emphasized the importance of taking these complex structural changes into account when developing treatment plans for middle-aged patients.

“Treatments for middle-aged patients should not simply focus on adding volume to depressed wrinkles,” Dr. Kim said. “Rather, treatment should take into account the overall facial structure and support.”

Dr. Kim also presented a multi-layer injection approach based on the physical properties of NASHA fillers. The approach considers factors such as skin thickness and facial muscle movement across different treatment areas, including the nasolabial folds, anterior cheeks, and jawline.

He further explained that filler selection and injection depth should be adjusted according to a patient’s age, facial anatomy, and stage of aging, sharing related clinical experience and treatment considerations with attendees.

“The selection of filler properties and injection depth should vary depending on the patient’s age and stage of facial aging,” Dr. Kim said. “I will continue to share clinical insights with fellow medical professionals through ongoing research and academic activities while working to provide patients with safe and natural-looking aesthetic treatments.”
