Katherine: I have to make copies of my tests for the students.

캐서린: 학생들 시험지 복사를 해야겠어.

David: Good luck.

데이빗: 행운을 빌어.

Katherine: What do you mean?

캐서린: 무슨 말이야?

Terry: The copy machine is down again.

테리: 복사기가 또 고장 났어.

Katherine: Oh, no! Again?!

캐서린: 아, 안 돼! 또야?!

Jim: The repairman is coming. He says he'll fix it and it will be up and running again.

짐: 수리공이 올 거야. 수리공 말이 고치면 잘 작동될 거래.

Lloyd: The school is throwing money away using that company to fix the copier.

로이드: 그 회사에 복사기 수리 맡기는 건 학교가 돈을 날리는 거야.

Ken: It's never fixed.

켄: 복사기 수리가 된 적이 없어.

Jim: I don't know what to tell you. The president likes to use that company.

짐: 뭐라 할 말이 없다. 학장님은 그 회사에 맡기고 싶어하셔.

Katherine: The school is throwing money down the drain.

캐서린: 학교가 돈을 날리는 거지.


▶(Something) is down: (무엇이) 고장 나다.

"The elevator is down again. We have to take the stairs."

(승강기가 또 고장 났어. 계단으로 가야 돼.)

▶throw money away: 돈을 낭비하다, 날리다.

"You're throwing your money away buying those basketball shoes."

(그 농구화 사면 넌 돈 날리는 거야.)

▶throw money down the drain: 돈을 날리다.

"He throws money down the drain every time he goes to Las Vegas."

(그 사람은 라스베거스 갈 때마다 돈을 날리잖아.)
